Halle shoots with sharks!

Hollywood actress Halle Berry will be seen battling with great white sharks in her new film "Dark Tide".

The 43-year-old star was seen wearing a flowered bikini and a black wetsuit as she prepared to get into a shark cage in Seal Island, False Bay in South Africa while filming a scene for the upcoming thriller.

Berry looked relaxed as she talked to the director before filming scenes alongside great white sharks. She is expected to get into the shark cage and dive among the creatures.

In the film, Berry plays the role of diving instructor Sara, who faces the difficult decision of getting back into the water following a near-fatal great white shark attack.

However, shark experts have criticised the film for giving great whites a bad name.

"After reading the script we decided it was not something we would like to put our names to," said Alison Kock, a Save Our Seas Foundation shark conservationist near Simon’s Town, where the scenes were shot.

"Our mandate is to try to change people’s perceptions of sharks. The first script that we got sounded very much like it had a thriller aspect to it and a personal kind of aspect to it as well. But fighting off a shark, or surviving a shark attack - we couldn’t see the positive side of that, as much as we tried," Kock added.

Jolie to play Liz Hurley in biopic

Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has beaten Catherine Zeta-Jones to play Elizabeth Taylor in her biopic.

According to a source close to director Mike Nichols, "Angelina just shaded it in his mind" and will now portray the icon, whose turbulent love life with Richard Burton made headlines in the sixties and seventies, reports express.

The film will be based on the book Furious Love by Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger.

Russell Crowe, Clive Owen and Colin Farrell are among the favourites to play Burton.

Jolie, 35, said she was "honoured" to play Taylor, adding: "I’m fascinated by her and the mystery and mystique that have always surrounded her. We haven’t got a script yet but as soon as we have something good enough we’ll make it."'

Alicia Keys weds Swizz Beatz

R&B star Alicia Keys has wed producer Swizz Beatz in an intimate ceremony, just weeks after announcing that she is expecting their first child together.

The 'Empire State of Mind' hitmaker walked down the aisle on Saturday in Corsica, France in front of family, friends and stars including U2 rocker Bono and actress Queen Latifah, Contactmusic reported. The 29-year-old singer wore a flowing white gown and headband, while the groom wore a white tuxedo jacket, pink shirt and bow tie for their big day.

The nuptials on the Mediterranean island proved to be a relaxed affair. Keys showed off her baby bump in a bikini while enjoying a dip in the pool before exchanging vows. She announced her pregnancy and engagement to Beatz in June and their first child is due later this year.

Lindsay released from jail

Troubled Hollywood starlet Lindsay Lohan has been released from jail after serving 13-days of a 90-day sentence.

The actress was released at 1:35 am (local time) today from the Lynwood Regional Detention Facility here, but that did not end her legal saga as she had to head straight to a court ordered rehab facility, reported American website TMZ.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore announced that the 'Mean Girls' star has been released from jail following good behaviour and because of overcrowding at the facility. The 24-year-old was kept in a sequestered unit of the woman's prison since July 20, which has housed other celebrities like Paris Hilton and Michelle Rodriguez.

Lohan, who was jailed for violating probation on a 2007 conviction for driving under the influence, is now at a substance abuse treatment centre, the location of which is being kept a secret. TMZ reported that Lohan will now go to the UCLA Medical Centre for an intense specialised programme to deal with psychological as well as a addiction problems.

Earlier it was reported she was due to check into Morningside Recovery rehab centre in Orange County, California, as soon as she was released. Yesterday Lohan's lawyer hit back at claims that she is to be treated for addiction to Methamphetamine and bi-polar disorder during her court-ordered 90 days in rehab.

But Lohan's lawyer attorney Shawn Chapman Holley told RadarOnline that her client is not a meth addict. "Lindsay isn't a meth addict. I have no idea where that came from, but I can tell you, it's false," said Holley.

Suri Cruise's latest toy iPad!

"Knight and Day" star Tom Cruise's four-year-old daughter Suri has got a new toy - an iPad.

Suri was spotted playing with her new gadget at a posh restaurant in New York recently while her parents ate dinner with friends.

A fellow diner revealed that the tiny tot had put her stuffed animals aside in favour of fiddling away on the $800 gadget.

Kylie doesn't regret losing money!

Pop star Kylie Minogue has no regrets about losing money on her recent US shows even though the tour made a loss as she found the American gigs "rewarding".

The 'Spinning Around' hit-maker took her act to the States last year, performing in cities including Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New York.

The shows failed to make a profit and ended up costing the singer money, but the 45-year-old singer insisted that the tour was worth it, Access Hollywood reported.

"It was a micro-tour, but I've got to tell you it was so rewarding. It was a mission from the heart... It was like... setting my wallet on fire because basically it just made no financial sense to do it, but I just reached a point where I thought, 'That's it! I just wanna!' I got a lot of reward from it. Right back to the heart, so it was amazing," said Minogue.

Kirsten Dunst's handbag thief convicted

The man accused of stealing Hollywood actress Kirsten Dunst's 1,330 pounds designer purse from a New York City hotel room has been convicted of burglary.

James Jimenez was accused of raiding the 'Spiderman' star's suite at the SoHo Grand Hotel in Manhattan in 2007, while the actress was filming 'How to Lose Friends and Alienate People' with Simon Pegg and Megan Fox nearby.

Jimenez was found guilty of burglary and trespassing at a Manhattan Supreme Court hearing on Friday. The judgement ends a case that brought Dunst to the witness stand twice to testify, reported Daily Express.

Pegg was also asked to testify before the jury members during the trial.

Jimenez was convicted of trespassing last year, but jury members were left deadlocked on a more serious burglary charge. The verdict ended a retrial.

Ryan miss Reese after divorce

Hollywood actor Ryan Phillippe is still sad about his divorce from Reese Witherspoon.

The 'MacGruber' actor, who split with the Oscar-winning star after seven years of marriage in 2006, admits he still feels the pain of the relationship ending but aims to learn from the experience and become a better father to their children Ava, 10 and Deacon, six.

"I still have sadness about my divorce. But my aim is always to progress - to be a better father, a better boyfriend, a better friend, a better actor. My goals are to improve in all areas of life," Phillippe said.
"If you're fearful and you're closing yourself off from potentially wonderful or beautiful additions to your life, that's not going to lead anywhere positive," he added.

The 35-year-old star also doesn't agree with shouting at his young children, which he believes has contributed to them growing up well-behaved.

"Since the time my children were just one or two years old, I've spoken to them like they're intelligent, and used bigger words than maybe they could comprehend at the time. I talked to them not necessarily as equals but as valued individuals. I haven't raised my voice to my children in years. They're really well behaved and conscientious," the actor said.

I am different from Carrie: Sarah

How has the character of Carrie evolved?
Well, its two years since the last movie and she is about to publish her last book and is married. She is experiencing a new change. At the beginning, she starts asking herself and the people about traditions and marriage and the conventions of marriages. When she is invited to this glorious trip to Abu Dhabi, it allows her to carry this question forward further. They arrive in the Middle East, and it’s a wonderful culture to observe with this idea in her head...

And some wonderful fashion?
Yes!

How has the style in the movie changed?
There is a big difference between the first and this movie and that was because we were shooting in a country that is dictated in many ways by the people of faith, who are observant of cultural and social norms. That meant being covered. Our chest and shoulders were to be covered, wearing dresses that weren’t too short and it posed a wonderful challenge for Pat. It inspired her to look at silhouettes differently and this is the first time I’ve spent so much time in that much of fabric. I was really covered and I really came to see how sexy being covered can be and I loved the costumes in this movie. Pat would tell you how much she enjoyed too.

How much of the character ‘Carrie’ is you today?
Regardless of the time spent playing Carrie, I still feel very different. Pretty much all of our choices have been different. I married pretty early in my life. I have children. I got caught into domesticity probably much sooner than Carrie. My single life has been less colourful than Carrie’s. But that’s the beauty of playing somebody who is different. It’s fun. I don’t find my real self to be so much fun and I wouldn’t be very good at that, probably.

So is Sex and the City 3 on the cards?
I don’t know. It’s a conversation that I can have only after the movie opens.

Celebrities including Kylie Minogue and Cyndi Lauper attended Thursday night's amfAR event, which honored the ``Livin' La Vida Loca'' singer for his philanthropic contributions through his foundation.

Minogue hosted the black tie/black leather event. She says she is happy for Martin and feels he's ``embracing and living life'' since announcing in late March he's gay. Designer Jean-Paul Gaultier was honored for his contributions to menswear and his humanitarian work.

The gala benefits amfAR's AIDS research programs.

Kristen's rape remarks spark outrage

Hollywood actress Kristen Stewart is facing criticism from officials at a leading US charity after she compared press intrusion to rape.

The "Twilight" star compared stardom to being raped and her dislike about photographers and said: "The photos are so... I feel like I'm looking at someone being raped. A lot of the time I can't handle it. I never expected that this would be my life," reports contactmusic.com. Her comments have sparked outrage in America.

"Rape is a violation in which one has no choice. A star seeking publicity has choices. Although rape involves loss of privacy, loss of privacy does not constitute rape. Let's use a little logical thinking here," Margaret Lazarus, executive director of Rapels.org, was quoted as saying.

The 20-year-old actress played a rape victim in the 2004 movie "Speak".

"Kristen Stewart's comments are regrettable. Portraying a rape survivor in the film 'Speak' should have led her to use a more appropriate metaphor to describe the intrusive nature of the paparazzi. Rape is more than an intrusion, it's a violent crime, that causes serious long term mental health effects for victims," said Katherine Hull, spokesperson of the Rape and Incest National Network charity.

Katherine wants to adopt Haiti kid

Hollywood actress Katherine Heigl and her husband Josh Kelly want to adopt a child from earthquake-ravaged Haiti.

The "Killers" star, who adopted daughter Naleigh from Korea in September last year, says she is so happy to be a mother and wants to adopt her next child from Haiti, reports aceshowbiz.com.

"We would like to have a second child adopted or biological. We're not ruling it out. Just look at Haiti. There are so many parentless children. It breaks my heart. I want to help," said Heigl.

I wrote letters to SRK: Gemma

Gemma Arterton, who romanced Daniel Craig as the Bond girl in Quantum Of Solace, actually nursed a secret crush on Shah Rukh Khan during her schooling days.

Recently seen as Princes Tamina in Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time, she reveals, that she has a fabulous Indian connection or let’s say Punjabi connection. “I went to school in Gravesend which has the biggest Gurdwara in Europe, so I grew up in a large Indian community. I had a group of Indian friends as well who helped me get to know more about the Indian culture,” she says.

She’s also done a performance arts course at The Miskin Theatre in Dartford, and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art on a full grant. She says, she always thought she’d do more of theatre and barely gave a thought to becoming a full-fledged movie star, although, even coming this far hadn’t really been an easy journey. Her biggest breakthrough was through Tess Of D’urbervilles before she became a bond girl. She says, “I wish it was easy to get here (laughs). It was before I had done ‘Bond’ and Tess..., that there were auditions for Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time; and my agent said, ‘Go up for this film, but you probably won’t get it because it’s massive.’ Yet, I met the casting director and then (director) Mike Newell, but you still have to do screen tests and win lots of people over and convince them that you’re beautiful enough, talented enough, and so on. I just thought I was never going to get it, so I was quite blasé about it. And there was such a long wait before I got a call telling me I had the part, that I’d pretty much forgotten about it at that point.” Also, she reveals that it took a lot of effort to learn the stunts, do them, and yet look beautiful as she was the only girl in the cast, nevertheless the stint has given her a new-found passion. She says, “I enjoyed my role as Tamina. She’s very interesting because she’s not just ‘the girl’: she’s got lots of different facets. She’s a high priestess, an adventurer, a bit of a tomboy sometimes. I’m the only girl in the film, so I had to try and look good all the while! It took me up to four hours to be transformed into the Persian princess in the morning. I had to learn how to horse ride, as I’d never done it before, but now it’s kind of become a new passion for me.”

There were recent rumours about her having a ‘special’ off-screen chemistry with her co-star Jake Gyllenhaal which spilled on-screen too. And Gemma doesn’t deny it a bit, in fact almost gushing, she says, “I met Jake a month before we started shooting for the film, so it was all a bit nerve-wracking. I had butterflies in my stomach, but he was sweet. We had a chemistry from the moment we met! The chemistry that you see on-screen was there off-screen too. We were always joking around and very comfortable working together. The nicest thing about him is that he’s such a lovely, funny and down-to-earth guy. He works hard and is a perfectionist but has a great sense of humour.”

Speaking about future work, she has expressed a desire to come to India and be part of the Indian film industry. She says, “Me and some of my friends at school were obsessed with Shah rukh Khan and we all wrote to him, hoping that he would come and perform at our school! I’ve always loved Bollywood movies, I’d love to work on one in the future. Maybe with Shah Rukh Khan!”

My new fragrance is provocative: Simpson

Singer-actress Jessica Simpson says her new fragrance, Fancy Nights is "provocative".

"It is a deeper, richer scent - more provocative," contactmusic.com quoted her as saying.

"A fragrance can lead you deeper into a mood. Fancy Nights gives me the chance to express a more romantic side of my personality." The spicy scent includes warm notes of bergamot and Egyptian papyrus blended with Indonesian patchouli, Bulgarian red rose and night-blooming jasmine and Jessica believes it showcases a different side to her personality.

I was never fat: Khloe Kardashian

Reality TV star Khloe Kardashian says she never thought she was fat despite constant criticism.

"I'd always be in tight dresses. In my head I did not think I was ever fat. Other people did, but I didn't think I was - ever! Because of my family base, I always accepted my natural shape or what I thought it was. I appreciate it now and I want to help other people," femalefirst.co.uk quoted Kardashian as saying.

The 25-year-old socialite who recently lost 30 lbs admits she was never concerned about her figure as she was always taught to appreciate the assets she had.

Kutcher defends Cyrus's racy video

Actor Ashton Kutcher has come out in support of "Hanna Montana" star Miley Cyrus insisting critics shouldn't judge the teenager too harshly.

The 17-year-old actress hit headlines when footage from the wrap party of her movie "The Last Song" appeared online. The racy clip, filmed last year (09) when Cyrus was aged just 16, shows her grinding up against 44-year-old Hollywood producer Adam Shankman on the dancefloor, reports contactmusic.com.

In a series of twitter posts, Kutcher writes, "Ur (sic) comments on Miley are completely unwarranted. She's 17... Judgment is unbecoming. I think it's important to think about the context of the event she was at. It's not like she was at a club with some stranger."

Winehouse wants ex-hubby to join rehab

Pop singer Amy Winehouse wants her ex-husband to join a rehabilitation programme to get rid of his drug addiction.

"Amy caught Blake (Fielder-Civil) misbehaving and hit the roof. She’s furious he’s still taking drugs and getting off his face while she’s not around to keep an eye on him," dailystar.co.uk quoted a source as saying.

"Amy’s worked really hard to turn her life around, to get clean and away from drugs. So far she’s been successful and finally seems happy with her future.

"However, she feels there’s no point in her struggling to stay off drugs when her boyfriend is getting high. Blake taking drugs just reminds her of the old days, when she spent hours wasting her life," the source added.

Blake has been in and out of rehab for the past year and Amy thought that he had conquered his drug demons. However, he will now undergo another drug programme in a Sheffield rehab centre.

Paris takes inspiration from Monroe

Socialite Paris Hilton has taken inspiration from none-other-than Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe for her 10th fragrance titled 'Tease by Paris Hilton'.

The 29-year-old hotel heiress has posed as a mermaid and channelled her pet Tinkerbell for her past fragrances but this time went for a classic touch for her latest scent, People reported online.

"I got to dress up like my idol Marilyn Monroe, and we ended up with some great photos. She's always been such an inspiration to me," Hilton said of the shoot, which featured her in a sexily dishevelled platinum mop-top a la Monroe.

The scent, a fruity-floral blend of Fuji apple, white peach nectar and bergamot, is balanced with white flowers and has base notes of amber, blonde woods and warm sand--designed to capture the come-hither spirit of Monroe. "Tease is a really sweet and flirty scent, so the name is very fitting. It's playful and sexy-perfect for grabbing attention," Hilton said.

'Tease by Paris Hilton' is all set to hit stores this summer, with a 3.4 oz eau de parfum spray priced at USD 55.

Hudson, Diaz at loggerheads?

Hollywood actresses Kate Hudson and Cameron Diaz are said to be embroiled in a bitter battle over baseball player Alex Rodriguez.

Diaz is reportedly dating Rodriguez, popularly known as "A-Rod", which has infuriated Hudson, who was in a relationship with him from May to December 2009.

Hudson believes that Diaz is trying to seek revenge for hooking up with Justin Timberlake just days after the pair split in early 2007.

"Kate thinks it's payback, pure and simple," usmagazine quoted an insider as saying.

A friend of Diaz added: "Cameron was actually in a serious long-term relationship with Justin. She thinks it's a joke Kate would be mad. Kate is only upset because she hates being single."
